The trail starts out in the town of Tincup and climbs past the beautiful Mirror Lake on its way to the pass. Enjoy! My 7 month old had the best nap of the last week on this drive. Right goes to Taylor Park and Cottonwood Pass back to Buena Vista. I did it in a stock Jeep Wrangler. Either road has some camping along with it. By the late afternoon, there wasn't a lot of traffic on the trail, but there were still a lot of people at Mirror Lake. The best part of this was the stop at the top of the pass where the Continental Divide marker was. Saw some moose in the willows before the summit push. I ran the trail as part of the Set Them Free Off-road event which was held in the area during the first weekend of July. Another few weeks will be necessary until the snow melts away. Was a good time. Turn around if snow blocks the road and come back another day. We stage just outside of St. Elmo and sometimes go to the top and come back, or go an entire loop. We were passed by one family in a SxS who took the Old Tincup route, we saw them again at the pass and they said they came back out and up the "easier" route because it was so rough. Excellent trail!
